Alzheimer's Support in Metairie: Regenerative Medicine Questions
Updated: Oct 1

Updated October 1, 2026. This article has been revised to distinguish supportive care and early research from proven Alzheimer's treatment.
An Alzheimer's diagnosis raises questions for patients and care partners about daily life, available treatment and emerging research. Infinite Health Integrative Medicine Center in Metairie provides physician-led neurocognitive evaluations with Trip Goolsby, MD, serving Greater New Orleans and the Gulf South. Our role is to consider the broader health picture alongside appropriate neurological care.
Keep established Alzheimer's care at the center
Alzheimer's disease requires an appropriate diagnosis and ongoing care plan. Approved medications may help manage symptoms or, for selected patients, treat early disease. No treatment is currently known to cure Alzheimer's. A neurologist or other qualified treating clinician can explain eligibility, expected benefits and risks.
Memory changes should not automatically be attributed to aging, hormones or inflammation. Evaluation can help distinguish dementia from other contributors and identify which specialists and tests are appropriate.
What should I know about stem cells, Wharton's jelly and exosomes?
These terms describe different things. Stem cells are cells; Wharton's jelly is umbilical-cord connective tissue, with derived products that vary in composition and processing; exosomes are cell-released vesicles. A product's label or proposed biological mechanism does not establish that it repairs brain tissue or improves cognition.
Stem-cell and Wharton's jelly products are not FDA-approved treatments for Alzheimer's disease. There are no FDA-approved exosome products. These proposed uses are experimental and should not replace established treatment.
What does early human exosome research establish?
A 2023 early-phase study tested a specific intranasal exosome preparation in nine people with mild-to-moderate Alzheimer's. It reported no adverse events during treatment and some cognitive changes in one dose group. It was open-label and had no placebo group, so it cannot establish general effectiveness or long-term safety.
That study does not establish that commercial products, different doses or other routes reverse Alzheimer's. Larger, well-controlled studies are needed. Individual patient stories also cannot establish a treatment effect.
What happens during a neurocognitive consultation?
Trip Goolsby, MD reviews current diagnoses, medications, relevant records, sleep, nutrition, metabolic and hormone health, physical activity, stress and care goals. Recommendations depend on the evaluation and should coordinate with the patient's neurologist, primary-care clinician and other specialists. A care partner may participate with the patient's permission.
If a regenerative approach is discussed, ask about the exact product, evidence for the specific diagnosis, regulatory requirements, potential harms, alternatives and total costs. Physician supervision or a broader health program does not establish that an experimental product is effective.
Getting started in Metairie
The free discovery call is with a wellness coordinator and does not provide medical advice. A separate physician consultation provides time to discuss records, concerns and next steps. Regenerative procedures are priced separately from membership and are not billed to insurance.
