What is platelet-rich plasma (PRP)?

PRP is a potent regenerative substance derived from your own blood. Plasma is the liquid “carrier” that helps move red and white blood cells around your body. It also contains platelets, cell fragments that attach to blood vessel walls to help clot blood when you’re bleeding. 

Beyond their blood clotting abilities, platelets are incredibly powerful healers. They flood damaged and inflamed areas with growth factors that trigger rapid healing.

How is PRP made?

PRP treatment starts with a blood draw to gather a small amount of your whole blood. Then, a process called centrifugation treats the blood. It removes the unnecessary red blood cells and highly concentrates your platelets within the plasma. 

PRP contains up to 10 times the platelets of whole blood, so it provides highly concentrated healing power.
